If you live in Canada, own an Android phone and have a passion for Starbucks, you’re in luck. Starbucks has changed its app to allow Android users to make mobile payments when they come in for their lattés. Canadian iPhone users have been enjoying this perk since early 2012.
According to Starbucks, the “Starbucks app for Android, available on Google Play, is available for phones running Android 2.2 or above and is designed to offer a rich user experience.”
In order to pay for all those lattés and iced chais with their Android phones, users will have to download the app, enter their Starbucks Card numbers, scan and then go. They will be able to use their phones to reload their Starbucks cards with any major credit card, keep track of their balances and many other things.
It may seem frivolous to talk about an app that makes it easier for people to buy coffee in a local Starbucks. In fact, it’s just an indication of greater things to come. One day, people will have the option to travel cash and credit card free, using their smart phones to pay for everything.
